Welcome to LifeRing Canada

We hope everyone has enjoyed their summer. Lots of our participants have been updating us on what they’ve been doing throughout the last few months, and it’s great to hear all of the adventures, recreational and recovery activities.

It’s amazing how much one person can do for our organization and thanks to Worldwide Secular Recovery, LifeRing Canada has been connecting with so many new people in recovery around the world. In the last couple of week’s the numbers are starting to grow as people start to establish a more of a Fall routine, which is great to see. The recovery journey never stops.

The community support throughout British Columbia has many convenors helping both the ASK Wellness Society and Our New Tomorrow Treatment Solutions. These organizations provide many different services for Kamloops and the surrounding areas. This is great news for them, and the word continues to help us grow.

Dave our VP and James from Island Health and long time LifeRing Canada supporter attended our first SoberFest Victoria event. The numerous volunteers that helped organize this event and attend our LifeRing Canada table were well received. We hear that this is an expensive event to manage and Mike certainly had his work cut out for him. We handed out many brochures and posters to continue to advertise our organization more in the Victoria area.

SOBERFEST VICTORIA 2026

September is National Recovery Month Canada and we encourage those who may be struggling attend a LifeRing Canada meeting via Zoom or a face-to-face meeting near by. Connection is the opposite to addiction and in our meetings you connect with peers who share their stories, including what worked for them. National Recovery Month in Canada has multiple events and they are all located on their website Recovery Month Canada.

Every September, communities across Canada come together to celebrate recovery from addiction and to share a message of hope. Recovery Month Canada raises awareness that recovery is real and helps connect people to the communities that make it possible.

These recovery events are open to everyone — people in recovery, family, friends, allies, and anyone seeking help.

The Recovery Movement Principles • Connecting people to community is key to successful long-term recovery • Recovery involves both the individual and their social environment • Community support saves lives through inspiration and education • Recovery is founded on compassion, trust, faith, integrity, diversity, fun, and unity • Recovery events are open to all — those in recovery, supporters, and those seeking help

In Canada our recovery community is strong, but we’d love to see more LifeRing Canada meetings in your community. If you feel that volunteering is something you are interested in, come forward, it’s a great way of giving back. On our website there is a link to information about volunteering and what LifeRing Canada is looking for. Check it out at Volunteers Needed. Our basic requirements are that you have been free from substances for a minimum of 4 months, attend LifeRing Canada meetings with a mentor to have convenor training along with reviewing our Convenor Training Manual, and you are willing to commit 4 hours per month to run meetings.

As you are the audience of the LifeRing Canada community, what do you want to see? Do you have suggestions that we should know about? As we grow LifeRing Canada it is important that our community participants know we are there and want to hear from you.
