Greetings from LifeRing Canada

Welcome to Spring

Flowers! More Flowers!

LifeRing Canada has been working hard in multiple communication areas. Our social media has grown as new members find us, which is really exciting. Another new announcement for us is our connection to the Worldwide Secular Meeting website, where Ashley worked hard to ensure our Zoom meetings were listed on the site. We continue to receive many new attendees at our meetings, because of this. Thanks to Laura who connected us.

We also held our first group session on How to Build Your Own Recovery Plan and Why. The 4 meetings were held in February and we hope to have another session soon. If you are interested, please ensure you send an email to info@liferingcanada.org and your name can be added to the next session. If you are aware of someone that may be interested in trying our group, feel free to pass our information along. There is no cost associated with it and everyone is welcome.

Our recovery community is strong, but we’d love to see more meetings, however we can’t do that without your involvement. If you feel that volunteering is something you are interested in come forward, it’s a great way of giving back. On our website there is a link to information about volunteering and what LifeRing Canada is looking for. Check it out at the article Volunteering. Basic requirements are that you have been free from substances for a minimum of 4 months, attend LifeRing Canada meetings with a mentor to have convenor training along with reviewing our Convenor Training Manual, and you are willing to commit 4 hours per month to run meetings.

In recognition of National Volunteer Week, thank you to the many volunteers that are on our board of directors, and run our meetings. Also to the 2 volunteers, Martin who takes care of the improvements to our website and Rick who takes care of our financial reporting and bookkeeping. All of these people are appreciated and very dedicated.

Recently, our Vice President opened up about his recovery journey and the meaningful role LifeRing Canada has played in it. Stories like his remind us how powerful it can be when people share their experiences to encourage others. We invite you to take a moment to read his message, Dave’s Story.

Victoria, BC has announced the 6th Anniversary of SoberFest, a complete substance free environment, taking place on August 15, 2026, at Starlight Stadium from 1–9 PM. Tickets are available through SoberFest. Multiple great music performers will be there as well. Events like this thrive when all recovery communities come together, and your support helps strengthen the journey for everyone.

Trip to Vectoria, BC, #1 Trip to Vectoria, BC, #2

During a recent trip to Victoria, BC, two of our longest‑standing face‑to‑face meetings were revisited. These meetings are convened by Jason and Gord, whose dedication has been invaluable. Throughout the COVID pandemic, they helped shape LifeRing Canada’s policy for accessing our largest meeting room, allowing us to continue hosting the one and only Victoria‑based meeting. Thank you to all the long‑time regular attendees who continue to make these meetings such an important part of recovery for so many.

There was also an opportunity for a productive conversation with our VP, Dave, along the beautiful oceanfront.
