Greetings from LifeRing:

It’s been a few busy months for LifeRing Canada, lots of positive changes have been happening.

We have added 2 new Zoom meetings. Neither person is new to LifeRing, but has taken on the challenge of becoming a new convenor. Evelyn Williams is hosting our first ladies only meeting, “Girlfriends in Recovery”. This meeting is held on Thursday nights at 9:00 PM EST. Here is a short bio of her recovery journey. Welcome aboard Evelyn!

""" Hello, my name is Evelyn Williams and I live in Georgia with my husband and two kids Myra and Anthony. My passion for working with children lead me to studying early childhood education and then teaching at The Goddard School. After having two kids of my own, my teaching career got put on hold. Knowing that I wanted to be the best mom I could be and that my alcohol use was getting in the way I started my road to recovery. I found online groups and soon after LifeRing zooms to be the connection and support that I needed. The community and friendships that I have made have been amazing. Since then, I have started my own photography business, become an admin in a sober Facebook group and a LifeRing convenor in a meeting for woman that share common experiences. I bring the same compassion, enthusiasm, sense of humor and energy to my meetings as I have now for my life. Can’t wait to see some of you there! """

Our next new meeting is Sunday’s at 6:00 PM EST “Sunday’s Connection”. Paul Veronsky hosts and here is a short bio of his recovery journey. Paul is another great addition to our LifeRing Canada family.

""" Paul Veronsky currently lives in Belle Mead, New Jersey, a quiet suburban town one hour outside of New York City with his wife and three daughters. Having recently retired from a family run business has given him the time to strengthen his sobriety through self care practices like mindfulness, meditation, healthy eating and exercise. He hopes to bring his general sense of calmness and overall optimism to his LifeRing meetings with the knowledge that every person needs to discover their own path on this journey. He believes that connection and community are important components to staying substance-free and that sharing with others is a key to continued success. """

Another announcement for our Victoria Hub is the new volunteers that are currently training to become new convenors for our 2 face-to-face meetings in Victoria. We’re looking forward to announcing their names.

Our new website that our one and only George Gidora has been working on over the last few months, trying to ensure that all of clients current and future, can use with ease. As some of you may know, a website overhaul can be a huge undertaking and this project is definitely showing some challenges. We are hoping to go live soon, so watch out for our newly designed header, shown above on our newsletter.

During our recent Board of Directors meeting, we all had the pleasure of meeting both Sue Betts (Chair of the Board of Directors & Interim Executive Director; along with Anna Bodella (former Board Member) both from LifeRing International. We discussed memberships and resources for participants showing signs of suicidal ideations. We hope to meet again to continue the important role of international collaborations with the key focus on recovery from addiction and how LifeRing can play an important role.

We continue to grow our client base in communities and via Zoom. Continue to check our website for any updates in meetings. Another new addition is our fast-growing Facebook page “LifeRing By Choice”. It is a private group, which Jamie has been advertising many new features. If you want to join, send your email request to our email address – info@liferingcanada.org .

We continue to canvass for additional convenors, as more facilities are looking to start meetings. It’s only a few hours a month, and it feels great to give back. Reach out to any of us to find out more or send an email to info@liferingcanada.org.

As members of the LifeRing Community, what do you want to see, do you have suggestions that we should know about? As we grow LifeRing Canada it is important that our community participants know we are there and want to hear from you.
