Greetings from LifeRing:
On November 6th we had our Annual General Conference which was another huge success. The board met along with guests at the CEED Centre in Maple Ridge, BC. We had an agenda that included a few keys topics for our new board to discuss.
Our nominations took place and I am proud to announce our new Board of Directors: Jamie Itterman – President/Acting Treasurer, Barb Ross – Vice President, George Gidora – IT / Computer Expert - Director, Troy Riley – Secretary, Dave McConnell – Director, Maureen Andersen – Director, and Read Haymond – Director. Thank you for putting your name forward to help LifeRing Canada and many thousands struggling with substance use disorders. Our success is because of you!!

Our agenda included some very important topics to us and included: a discussion and collaboration on our philosophy of 100% abstinence; the future establishment of the new international relationship and how this affects us here in Canada; and how do we encourage the participation of women, 2SLGBTQ+ and visible minorities in our meetings. All of these topics we consider very important around the table and we will be discussing them more in the future.
We have made connection with 2 new people who wish to start meetings, one in Comox and one in Sechelt, and most recently 2 new meetings in eastern Canada. We hope to grow our client base in these communities and via Zoom. Continue to check our website for any updates in meetings. Another new addition is our fast-growing Facebook page “LifeRing By Choice”. It is a private group, that Jamie has been working hard to promote. We continue to canvass for additional convenors, as more facilities are looking to start meetings. It’s only a few hours a month, and it feels great to give back. Reach out to any of us to find out more or send an email to info@liferingcanada.org.
